Vernal pool certification at Olde Field Farm

Posted April 22nd, 2015 in Uncategorized by Charles Radville

We had about 15 participants and we found a couple of hundred wood frog egg masses but also several salamander eggs masses (pictured) some of which we believe to be blue-spotted salamanders. We didn’t find many invertebrates, probably because the long winter has kept the water very cold.

Anyone interested in visiting another pool to see how it is progressing can join us on a visit to Grace Pond this Saturday at 2:00. We’ll meet in the parking area near the end of Bowman Road.
