Salty the Seahorse and the Mattapoisett Land Trust once again invite children of all ages to join us for some fun in the firelight on Saturday, October 23, from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Dunseith Gardens (Route 6 at North Street).

The Land Trust will provide the cooking fires, with hay-bale seating, and the ingredients for s’mores as well as cider for a healthy thirst-quencher. Entertainment will include a sing-a-long and storytelling by Toby Dills.

All are welcome!

Guests need to park off-site, so please bring a flashlight to help you return to your car.  In case of inclement weather we will try again on Saturday, November 6, at the same time.

For more information you can contact the Land Trust by email at info@mattlandtrust.org or by phone at 774-377-9191 or 508-758-7849.

MLT enters agreement to purchase Brownell property

Posted October 5th, 2010 in News by Charles Radville

A year and a half ago we announced that we had an agreement to acquire the 40-acre Dunn Preserve along Old Slough Road north of Angelica Avenue and Pine Island Pond.

With your help we were able to close on the property in June of last year.

Subsequently we were contacted by Linda Brownell to determine whether or not we would be interested in acquiring the 49-acre parcel which lies between the Old Jenny Farm and the Martocci Preserve. Given its location between two of our existing properties we were, of course, interested.

The negotiations were a bit complicated but we were finally able to sign a purchase and sale agreement this September committing us to purchase the parcel next June.
