The Garden Groomers Are Back!

Do you enjoy sunshine, salt air and harbor views? If so, please join the
Mattapoisett Land Trust’s Garden Groomers! We meet at Munro Preserve
(just west of the Town Wharves) at 8 a.m. each Tuesday morning to pull
weeds and do light garden maintenance, while enjoying the sunshine and a
cup of coffee. Join us on any Tuesday morning, or email us at

Saving the Eastern Box Turtle
Saturday, April 29, 2017
10:00 a.m.
Walk to the Woodcock Preserve Vernal Pool
Join us at the Buzzards Bay Coalition’s new parking area on Long Plain Road and explore the new
trail connecting to MLT’s Woodcock Preserve with its large vernal pool. We’ll stop to explore
salamander and frog eggs and lots of spring activity at the vernal pool, then continue on to a
large grove of fallen beech trees.
11:45 a.m.
Student presentation at the Mattapoisett Friends’ Meeting House
The ORR students will once again describe their experiences water testing in Eel Pond,
one of our educational investments at work.
12:15 p.m.
Potluck Lunch at the Mattapoisett Friends’ Meeting House
Bring a main dish or salad to share. The MLT will provide beverages and dessert.
1:00 p.m.
Annual Meeting of the MLT at the Mattapoisett Friends’ Meeting House
Annual reports and the election of the board of directors; vote on revision to bylaws
1:30 p.m.
Saving the Eastern Box Turtle
Marla Isaac from the New England Reptile and Raptor Center will
return to MLT to introduce us to Eastern box turtles, and show
us live turtles. These local reptiles are found throughout
Mattapoisett but are on the state’s list of “species of critical
concern.”
Come meet the turtles, and celebrate the natural world with MLT!
We preserve land to enrich the quality of life for present and future generations of
Mattapoisett residents and visitors.

BBC/Southcoast Health Sunday Stroll, Munn Preserve

Sunday April 2nd, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., get outside and take a Sunday Stroll with the Buzzards Bay Coalition and Southcoast Health on the trail at the  Mattapoisett Land Trust’s Munn Preserve in Mattapoisett. Sunday Strolls are led by a Southcoast Health medical professional and a Buzzards Bay Coalition outdoor educator. During these mid-morning walks, held one Sunday each month, you’ll get some fresh air and exercise while learning how to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle and explore the outdoors.

The Munn Preserve is at the end of Mattapoisett Neck Road before the stone gates to Antassawamock.
