Individuals have a number of different reasons for wanting to protect land in Mattapoisett. Some are concerned about preserving the scenic beauty. Some worry about maintaining biodiversity. Still others fear the degradation of the waters Buzzards Bay from septic systems and chemical run-off. No matter why they are concerned, the Mattapoisett Land Trust provides an organization through which they can take action to improve the situation, both now and in the future. Since we have no paid staff, the mission of the MLT can only be accomplished through the selfless work of concerned individuals. We have a broad array of activities that are useful in promoting the goals of the organization and we will certainly find an appropriate activity for anyone willing to help.

Specifically, we need individuals willing to help with:
  • Trail design and maintenance
  • Membership
  • Publicity
  • Graphic design
  • Web site maintenance
  • Fundraising
  • Gardening
  • Legal affairs
  • Land negotiation and acquisition
  • Education
  • Mapping
  • Scientific or historical studies
  • Grant writing and research
  • Leading hikes and walks

This is a long and imposing list, but we’re not asking you to do it all. Any amount of time you can give us will be greatly appreciated; we can customize the job to fit your offer.

Please use the Contact Us page to let us know that you are interested in helping the MLT preserve the land in Mattapoisett.
